After the G major concerto, the triumvirate of Mozart experts Cliff Eisen, Werner Breig and Andrew Manze have now subjected Mozart's Violin Concerto in D major K. 218 to thorough revision and obtained outstanding results. Editor Eisen was responsible for a source-critically solid music text based on the autograph and on Eisen's vast knowledge of historical performance practice. Breig masterfully trimmed down the piano part for the accompanist while remaining faithful to the text. Manze, a concertmaster and conductor of international stature who was recently hailed as the "Grappelli" of the Baroque violin, completed the edition with his strikingly idiomatic cadenzas that are the first to correspond stylistically to the highest level of Mozartian practice.
